  • Hossein Salami, head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, says “enemies of the nation” should expect revenge in a message to Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, after assassination of the Lebanese movement’s commander Fuad Shukr and Hamas’s Ismail Haniyeh.

  • The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) says it has documented 40,000 cases of Hepatitis A in its shelters in the Gaza Strip since the war broke out last October.

  • Hope for a ceasefire among Palestinians in Gaza “shattered” after the assassination of Hamas political leader Haniyeh, whose funeral in the Qatari capital Doha drew thousands of mourners earlier today.

  • At least 39,480 people, including 16,314 children, have been killed and 91,128 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 and more than 200 were taken captive.

KARACHI: The Sindh government Thursday announced cancelling evening classes in schools tomorrow (Friday), fearing heavy rain. The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department, in a notification, said all private and public evening shift schools would remain closed. In view of the forecast of rains in the megalopolis, the Sindh government has declared a rain emergency in the province and decided that offices in Karachi would be open for half a day on Friday. In a post on X, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui Thursday said the decision for the half-day was taken as an “abundant precaution”. He also requested citizens to avoid travelling unnecessarily to stave off any inconvenience.
