Israeli police examining the site of a Hezbollah drone strike in northern Israel. The Lebanese group launched a series of drones it says were targeting Israeli military installations.

PARIS/KYIV : French President Emmanuel Macron has smashed a major taboo by floating the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine , raising the stakes in a showdown with a nuclear-armed Russia . Hosting a conference of Euro­pean leaders on Monday night, the French leader refused to rule out the dispatch of Western troops to Ukraine as Russia’s invasion stretches into its third year and Kyiv’s military campaign appears to be faltering. “ We will do whatever it takes to ensure that Russia cannot win this war, ” Macron added. A European military source, who asked not to be named, said that European allies had been studying the plan for several weeks and the United States supported the idea. KARACHI: The Sindh government Thursday announced cancelling evening classes in schools tomorrow (Friday), fearing heavy rain. The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department, in a notification, said all private and public evening shift schools would remain closed. In view of the forecast of rains in the megalopolis, the Sindh government has declared a rain emergency in the province and decided that offices in Karachi would be open for half a day on Friday. In a post on X, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui Thursday said the decision for the half-day was taken as an “abundant precaution”. He also requested citizens to avoid travelling unnecessarily to stave off any inconvenience.
